Chilam Cheung discusses son's debut as guitarist

Actor Chilam Cheung recently discussed his 19-year-old son, Morton Cheung, appearing as a guitarist during his recent concert in Guangzhou. Cheung clarified that his son did not receive preferential treatment due to his status as a ‘second-generation star’; instead, he had to pass a rigorous professional assessment by the music director to join the band.

During the performance, Morton encountered a technical issue when his guitar cable disconnected. Chilam Cheung praised his son’s composure in handling the unexpected situation, noting that such real-world experience is invaluable for musical growth.

Regarding the nature of their collaboration, Chilam Cheung stated that they were not technically performing ‘together’ on stage, as Morton was simply a member of the band. He expressed that a true joint performance would involve them singing a duet. The actor also commented on his family's appearance, jokingly noting that their looks are ‘all-natural’ following public comparisons of Morton’s features to those of his parents, Yuen Wing-yee and Chilam Cheung.
