Child dies in Vietnam electric motorbike accident
A child has died following an accident involving an electric motorbike in Vietnam. The incident occurred when the child, who was standing on the floorboard in front of an adult, accidentally twisted the throttle. This caused the vehicle to lunge forward, leading to the child falling and striking their head on a concrete surface.
Despite receiving emergency medical treatment at a local hospital and being transferred to the National Children's Hospital, the child succumbed to severe brain injuries.
Medical experts, including Dr. Dang Anh Duong from the National Children's Hospital, have issued warnings regarding the dangers of allowing children to sit in front of a driver or stand on the floorboards of scooters and electric motorbikes. Such positions increase the risk of children accidentally accessing controls, losing balance during sudden braking or turns, or suffering impact injuries from the handlebars due to inertia.
