Child injury monitoring following car accidents

Parents should closely monitor children for up to 48 hours following a car accident, as adrenaline and stress can mask symptoms. Children may struggle to communicate pain, dizziness, or confusion, making immediate observation critical.

Concussions are a particular concern, as they can occur without a direct head impact. Symptoms such as headaches, irritability, nausea, or sensitivity to light may develop gradually rather than appearing immediately after the collision.
