Child-rearing market insights and inflation trends in Japan

Commit Growth has launched ‘tetsunagi for Business’, a new market research service designed for corporations to tap into the insights of child-rearing households. Utilizing data from over 30,000 posts and 1,200 users within the ‘tetsunagi’ community, the service aims to assist in product development, landing page optimization, and promotional planning by uncovering the specific needs and daily challenges of parents.

In a related look at the economic environment for these households, a survey by Actindi Co., Ltd. via its ‘Iko-yo’ platform reveals significant shifts in consumer behavior due to inflation. While 97% of 556 surveyed parents reported feeling the impact of recent price hikes—particularly in items like chocolate, family restaurants, and bakery goods—66% of respondents exhibited ‘price numbness.’ This phenomenon describes consumers who have become accustomed to higher prices and no longer hesitate to purchase items they previously would have considered too expensive.
