Child safety awareness programs educate students on personal boundaries
Awareness programs have been organized to educate children on personal safety, specifically focusing on the concepts of ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch’. Participants were taught to identify physical contact that makes them feel uncomfortable, fearful, or strange as ‘bad touch’.
Students were encouraged to react firmly by saying ‘no’ or ‘stop’ if they experience inappropriate behavior and to immediately report such incidents to trusted adults, such as parents or teachers. The programs also provided information on the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) to explain the legal protections available to minors.
To facilitate safe reporting, resources such as the 1098 child helpline were highlighted. In some instances, specialized complaint boxes, referred to as ‘Court Wali Didi’ boxes, were introduced to allow children to submit grievances or concerns privately and securely.
