Child safety concerns reported at daycare centers in Chile and Argentina

Separate incidents involving childcare safety and alleged abuse have been reported in Chile and Argentina.

In Ovalle, Chile, a mother filed a complaint after her 2-year-old son left a daycare center without supervision. The child reportedly walked several blocks alone to his home in the La Chimba area. The institution stated the incident occurred because a door was left open after another child was picked up. The mother has reported the matter to the police and is seeking clarification on institutional responsibilities.

In Villa Carlos Paz, Argentina, a ninth complaint has been filed regarding alleged abuse at the Niño Dios Kindergarten, part of the Instituto Parroquial Bernardo D’Elía. A mother reported behavioral changes in her 5-year-old son, including nightmares and distress, following an incident where the child was found outside the facility. Families involved have identified priest Alejandro Nicola as a primary figure in the allegations, though he has not been formally charged. Legal proceedings, including Gesell chamber evaluations for children, are ongoing.
