Child safety emergencies reported in Israel

In Israel, medical professionals are highlighting urgent safety risks for children following several critical incidents.

In Lod, a five-year-old boy died after being left in a vehicle for an extended period during extreme heat. Emergency responders from Magen David Adom reported finding the child unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, due to severe heatstroke. Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics and medical teams at Shamir Assaf Harofeh Hospital, the child could not be saved.

Separately, the Emek Medical Center reported two life-threatening emergencies involving the ingestion of foreign objects. A 4-year-old boy required surgery via gastroscopy to remove a button battery that caused chemical burns in his esophagus. Additionally, a 5-year-old girl underwent complex surgery after swallowing 16 magnets, which clustered through her intestinal walls, causing necrosis and five perforations in her digestive tract. Medical experts urge parents to seek immediate emergency care if a child swallows batteries or magnets, even if no symptoms are present.
