Child safety incidents in vehicles prompt police action in Romania and Moldova

Two separate incidents involving child safety in vehicles have drawn police attention in Romania and Moldova.

In Popești-Leordeni, Romania, the owner of an afterschool facility, identified as Elena N., was filmed crowding approximately 10 children into a Dacia Sandero. Witnesses reported that children were placed in the trunk and on the back seat with large backpacks, with some reportedly pressing against the windows. Following the viral video, Larisa N. was called to the police to provide statements. Elena N. defended the action, claiming the children wanted to try riding in the trunk and that the parents were aware of the situation.

In Chișinău, Moldova, police identified and fined a driver after video footage surfaced showing two children leaning out of a car's sunroof while the vehicle was in motion. The incident occurred on Mircea cel Bătrân Boulevard on August 9.
