Child safety: One in three dangerous products involves children
A review of over 400 cases from the Danish Safety Technology Authority reveals that one in three reported dangerous products involves items for children and babies. Since January 2023, 411 products have been identified as having defects that pose risks to consumers.
The affected items include a wide range of products such as teething toys, car seats, riding helmets, rattles, pacifiers, baby nests, and children's clothing. Some toys containing button cell batteries have also been flagged. Risks identified include dangerous chemicals in plastic or clothing, sharp edges, choking hazards from small parts or cords, and entrapment risks.
Experts advise increased vigilance during major shopping periods like Black Friday and the Christmas season, particularly when purchasing items from foreign websites.
