Child shot in Rio de Janeiro during election celebrations

A four-year-old girl was shot in the leg during celebrations in the Fazendinha community, located within the Complexo da Penha in Rio de Janeiro. The incident occurred on Sunday night amidst street demonstrations and festivities following the confirmation of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's re-election.

The child was initially treated at the UPA Alemão before being transferred to the Hospital Geral de Bonsucesso. Authorities reported that the child was lucid and not in immediate danger following initial medical attention.

The Civil Police, through the 21st DP (Bonsucesso), has opened an investigation to determine the origin of the gunfire and identify those responsible. Residents reported multiple gunshots in the area following the official election results. The region is noted by security forces as being under the influence of the Comando Vermelho criminal faction.
