Germany women's basketball reaches historic World Cup quarterfinals

The German women's national basketball team has reached the quarterfinals of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup for the first time in history. Playing at home in Berlin, the team secured a dominant 94-56 victory over South Korea. Key performers included captain Marie Gülich, who scored 19 points, and Frieda Bühner with 17 points.

Following this win, Germany is set to face European champions Belgium in the quarterfinals. Despite an initial loss to Spain, the German squad has secured three consecutive victories against Japan, Mali, and South Korea to advance.

In contrast, the South Korean team was eliminated from the tournament after their loss to Germany. While the team showed resilience in previous rounds, they struggled to overcome the physical advantages and height of the German roster.
