Visual health trends and myopia management in Spain
Visual health is becoming a major priority in Spain, ranking as the second most significant health concern for the population, according to a study by EssilorLuxottica. Despite this growing awareness, a gap in preventative care remains; many citizens report a need for more frequent eye exams, and a portion of the population only seeks specialist care once symptoms appear.
In the field of pediatric care, HOYA presented new clinical data at the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology Congress regarding the management of childhood myopia. Clinical results for the MiYOSMART iQ lens, tested on children aged 4 to 12, indicated that nine out of ten children showed no clinically significant myopia progression during the first year of use. Experts emphasized the importance of early identification and personalized management strategies to address the increasing prevalence of the condition.
