Children build spontaneous stone weir in Erfurt
Children in Erfurt have spontaneously constructed a stone weir in the Gera river near the Krämerbrücke to counteract low water levels caused by drought. Local children and international tourists worked together over several days to build the structure without adult supervision or formal plans.
The makeshift barrier has successfully raised the water level by at least 20 centimeters. While the project has become a point of amusement for passersby and a memorable experience for the participants, it remains an unauthorized construction that city authorities may need to address.
