Children in Tokat build makeshift football pitch using collected carpets

In the Sulusaray district of Tokat, children created their own makeshift football pitch after finding no local facilities available. To solve the problem, the children collected more than 20 old carpets and rugs from local residents and laid them side-by-side in a wedding hall garden. They further customized the space by painting goalposts onto stone walls using black paint.

Although the pitch was complete, the children lacked footballs. They reached out via social media to Mehmet Baransel, a hairdresser in Tokat city center who runs the ‘Topsuz Çocuk Kalmasın’ (No Child Without a Ball) project. Baransel responded to their request by providing footballs, offering free haircuts, and providing ice cream to the children. The project aims to encourage children to engage in sports and reduce technology addiction.
