Children intervene to stop parents fighting at sports match in Modena

During a regional Under-18 football match at the Gorzano sports field in Maranello, Modena, a physical altercation broke out between parents in the stands. The fight, which reportedly began following a disagreement over a comment made about a play on the field, forced the match referee to suspend the game.

In an unusual reversal of roles, young players from the Maranello and Baracca Beach teams intervened to separate the fighting adults and restore calm. Maranello Mayor Luigi Zironi described the incident as an “avvilente” (deplorable) scene, noting that the youth, who should be receiving educational examples from adults, were the ones forced to act.

While the confrontation was intense, no formal complaints were filed with law enforcement or medical services. Local sports clubs are currently investigating the specific dynamics of the incident.
