Children's book inspired by Granada macaw promotes animal welfare

María del Carmen Herrera Jiménez has released a children's book inspired by Lolo, a 59-year-old macaw residing at the Loro Sexi Ornithological Park in Almuñécar, Granada. The author, a former caretaker of the bird, created the story to promote values of respect, empathy, and animal welfare among young readers.

While the book does not recount the macaw's specific life history, it uses the character of Lolo to encourage children to view the world from an animal's perspective. The work aims to teach children that animals are living beings with their own needs, emotions, and methods of communication, rather than mere toys or whims.
