Children's Day celebrations announced across Latin America

Argentina will observe Children’s Day on Sunday 16 August 2026, the third Sunday of the month, after a 2025 decree moved the holiday from the second to the third Sunday. The change was promoted by the Cámara Argentina de la Industria del Juguete to avoid calendar clashes and support commercial and family planning.

In Mendoza, Argentina, the provincial government and the municipality of Guaymallén organized free cultural activities on 15 August at the Julio Le Parc cultural space, featuring circus shows, music, games and a special event for vulnerable children on 14 August.

Chile announced several free family programs for the holiday. Santiago will host a PAW Patrol live show, a Hollywood Symphonic Kids concert and a Wonder Park at Mall Arauco Maipú. Viña del Mar’s municipality will hold the “Alegría Infinita” festival in Quinta Vergara on 9 August with shows, inflatables and food trucks. Punta Arenas will run an interactive plaza event on 8 August with more than 30 institutions, games and the return of the Asmar carnival float.
