Children's Hospital 1 removes 15 kg ovarian tumor from 14-year-old girl
Doctors at Children's Hospital 1 in Ho Chi Minh City successfully performed surgery to remove a massive 15 kg ovarian tumor from a 14-year-old girl. The tumor, measuring 40 x 30 x 30 cm, occupied nearly the entire abdominal cavity and had caused significant difficulty in the patient's movement and daily activities.
During the procedure, the surgical team focused on removing the tumor while making efforts to preserve the patient's reproductive functions. Following the operation, the patient's health is reported to be stable under continued medical observation. Medical experts noted that ovarian tumors in children are uncommon and often present with vague symptoms, advising parents to seek medical attention if they notice abnormal abdominal swelling.
