Children's Hospital City treats 10-year-old for severe Dengue shock

Doctors at Children's Hospital City in Ho Chi Minh City successfully treated a 10-year-old girl from An Giang suffering from severe Dengue hemorrhagic fever. The patient presented with multi-organ failure, including severe liver and kidney damage, respiratory failure, and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Due to the complexity of the case, medical staff performed continuous blood filtration, plasma exchange, and administered vasopressors and blood products. After nearly three weeks of intensive treatment, including four rounds of continuous blood filtration and three plasma exchanges, the child's organ functions returned to normal and she was able to be weaned off a ventilator.

Medical professionals advise parents to monitor children closely during fever season. Immediate medical attention is necessary if a child experiences high fever for more than two days accompanied by abdominal pain, vomiting blood, lethargy, or cold extremities.
