Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Releases Video to Counter Teen Creatine Myths
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has launched a short video aimed at correcting misinformation about creatine use among teenagers. The clip addresses the growing “looksmaxxing” trend on social media, where influencers promote the supplement as a quick way to increase muscle mass.
CHOP physicians stress that creatine does not build muscle on its own and note the lack of studies on its safety and efficacy in developing bodies. The video features 17‑year‑old Vedant Srinivasan, who speaks through CHOP’s new Pediatric Health Chat tool to deliver evidence‑based guidance to peers and families.
Doctors warn that without consistent resistance training, proper nutrition and adequate sleep, creatine offers little benefit and may carry unknown risks. They advise parents to consult pediatricians before allowing any supplement use and to focus on fundamental healthy habits instead of shortcuts.
