Children's theatre premieres staged in Tuzla (BA) and Zadar (HR)

The National Theatre in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, opened the children’s play “Medin rođendan” on 16 June. Based on Zehra Hubijar’s story and directed by Ajla Bešić, the production follows Medo the bear’s birthday celebration and the forest friends’ efforts to thwart the jealous Lija. The cast includes Jasmina Dedić Ibrić, Irma Mehinović, Zerina Mujkić and others, with music by Mirza Rahmanović Indigo. Re‑runs are scheduled for 21 and 27 June, and the production is co‑financed by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

In Zadar, Croatia, the puppet theatre “Donatolina” presented the final works of its drama‑puppet workshop participants. The first premiere, “Nije ti ovo ćaćino”, debuted on Friday, exploring friendship, teamwork and youthful affection through humor. A second performance, “Pismo bez adrese”, inspired by Karel Čapek’s “The Post‑Office Tale”, will open on 15 June 2026, following a mail‑carrier’s worldwide journey to unite two lovers. Both productions feature large youth ensembles and are directed by workshop mentors.
