Chile accelerates public works in Biobío to create 1,000 jobs

The Chilean government has moved up 39 public‑works tenders in the Biobío region, allocating more than 51.5 billion Chilean pesos (about $55 million) for projects scheduled in July and August. The accelerated investments cover road repairs, water‑system construction, bridge reconstruction and various engineering studies, aiming to stimulate the local construction sector.

Regional public‑works minister José Piña said the fast‑track plan is intended to generate roughly 1,000 direct and indirect jobs in the short term, supporting the region’s economic recovery and aligning with the President’s “More Jobs” agenda.
