Chile adds dozens of new medical specialists to regional hospitals
The Hospital Regional de Arica appointed urologist Felipe Parada and internist Carlos Alarcón through the mandatory service period (PAO) to strengthen specialist care and shorten waiting lists. Parada said, “I come with humility to deliver quality urology and help patients,” while Alarcón highlighted the opportunity to develop professionally in an “extreme zone.”
Meanwhile, the Hospital de Quilpué onboarded 17 new specialists—covering neurology, obstetrics, internal medicine, pediatrics, orthopedics, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, family medicine and ENT—via PAO, with three more expected. The hires aim to improve patient access ahead of the forthcoming Marga Marga Provincial Hospital, as sub‑director Ximena Freitte noted that the new staff will help reduce long wait times for consultations and procedures.
