Chile advances circular economy through community and agricultural initiatives

Chilean authorities are advancing circular economy initiatives through community projects and agricultural sustainability programs. In Monte Patria, the “Pueblo Hundido Circular” project has received 14 million pesos in funding from the Ministry of the Environment’s 2025 Recycling Fund. This initiative aims to improve waste management for the 753 residents of Pueblo Hundido by implementing community vermicomposting, textile recycling workshops, and new waste classification containers.

In the Maule region, the Ministry of Agriculture is collaborating with Campo Limpio, an environmental management system that recycles empty agrochemical containers. During a seminar in Curicó, officials discussed strategies to integrate sustainable practices into the agricultural sector. The goal is to support small and medium-sized producers in reducing their environmental footprint while maintaining food production standards through institutional cooperation and education.
