Chile advances electromobility to improve air quality
Chile is making significant strides in electromobility to improve air quality and urban living. The country currently operates one of the largest fleets of electric urban buses outside of China, with over 4,000 units in Santiago. Additionally, the sale of zero-emission vehicles continues to show sustained growth alongside advancements in regulation, energy transition, and decontamination plans.
Despite these successes, a major challenge remains in the sector of freight logistics. Transitioning the heavy vehicles responsible for distributing food and medicine to sustainable energy sources is identified as a critical moral and strategic urgency. These issues were highlighted during discussions at the United Nations General Assembly and the Global Compact Leaders Summit.
