Chile adviser Ítalo Omegna resigns after pedophilia‑related video scandal

A video featuring Ítalo Omegna, an adviser to the Partido Nacional Libertario (PNL), circulated on social media showing him making sexual jokes about minors and children with autism. The remarks, including a comment about “size” and a reference to “children with autism,” sparked outrage in Chilean politics.

Senator independent Fabiola Campillai condemned the content as "repulsive" and called for Omegna's removal from public life. In response, deputy Hans Marowski announced that Omegna had submitted his resignation, which the congressman accepted, stating the adviser’s statements were his personal responsibility and not reflective of the party.

The incident was described as resolved at the institutional level after Omegna’s departure, while the party emphasized distance from the adviser’s remarks.
