Chile and Argentina Advance Major Road Infrastructure Projects

In Alto Hospicio, Chile, municipal authorities have begun a 22‑month reconstruction of Avenida Ricardo Lagos and nearby corridors. The work includes removing old pavement, installing new concrete slabs, adding central turning lanes, modern lighting, upgraded traffic signals and landscaping, with all labor sourced locally. The project is fully funded by SERVIU Tarapacá and aims to improve safety and mobility for residents.

In Plaza Huincul, Argentina, a roundabout is being built on Route 17 at the intersection with Azucena Maizani Street to accommodate increased traffic, especially from the hydrocarbon sector. Earth‑moving and ground‑leveling have started, and the construction is financed through a request to the intermunicipal body El Mangrullo. The roundabout is expected to be completed after work begins in November 2025, enhancing road safety for private vehicles, trucks and local police academy traffic.
