Chile and Argentina collaborate to integrate regional tourism routes
Chile and Argentina are working to strengthen tourism integration by linking Chile’s Lakes and Volcanoes Scenic Route with Argentina’s National Route 40. Rodrigo Moreno Orellana, manager of the Lakes and Volcanoes Scenic Route program, conducted a strategic visit to Bariloche to explore collaboration opportunities with local tourism authorities, business associations, and municipal representatives.
The Lakes and Volcanoes Scenic Route, established in 2017, spans from Victoria in the Araucanía Region to Cochamó in the Los Lagos Region. It operates under a public-private governance model involving various Chilean ministries and organizations to promote sustainable local development.
In a separate development, Heitor Kadri, the Regional Director for the Americas of UN Tourism, visited Chile to strengthen international ties. His agenda included participating in the XXXV CONPEHT Chile 2026 Congress in Frutillar, which focused on the themes of tourism, artificial intelligence, and Latin American leadership.
