Chile and Argentina municipalities implement digital public services
Local governments in Chile and Argentina are implementing digital tools to improve public service accessibility and reduce bureaucracy.
In Primavera, Chile, a new ChileAtiende Virtual Service Center has been inaugurated in collaboration with the Instituto de Previsión Social (IPS). This center allows residents of the Tierra del Fuego region to complete over 65 state procedures remotely via interactive video and audio connections, mitigating the challenges of geographic isolation and reducing the need to travel to cities like Punta Arenas.
In Río Gallegos, Argentina, the municipality has launched a new digital platform to streamline commercial licensing processes. Developed by municipal staff, the web platform centralizes requirements to reduce administrative wait times. Additionally, the city introduced ‘Pingüi’, a virtual chatbot designed to provide tourists and residents with information regarding local services, attractions, and gastronomy.
