Chile and China inaugurate new bilateral cultural center
Chile and China have inaugurated the Chile-China Cultural Center through a simultaneous ceremony held in both nations. The project is a collaborative effort between the Alejandro Lipschutz Science Institute (ICAL), the Blue Silk Transpacific Innovation and Cooperation Corporation, and the Qingdao Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Institute.
The center aims to strengthen cultural diplomacy, academic exchange, and cooperation between the two countries. While existing relations have historically focused on trade and commerce, officials emphasized the importance of deepening ties through the preservation of intangible heritage.
To initiate its activities, the center is offering free courses focused on traditional arts and skills. These include Morin Khuur (a Mongolian horse-head fiddle), Jianzhi (traditional Chinese paper cutting), Shibori (a resist-dyeing technique), and the creation of aromatic incense.
