Major housing initiatives progress in Chile, Argentina and Colombia

In Gorbea, Chile, a mega‑housing project for 269 families has reached 40 % completion, with delivery slated for August 2027. The regional housing minister Sergio Merino and mayor Jorge Romero highlighted the $17.48 billion peso investment and the effort to overcome land‑acquisition and sanitary‑approval hurdles.

The Chilean Ministry of Housing and Urbanism also launched a new Rental Subsidy 2026 for families in the Maule region, offering monthly state aid to cover part of rent costs. Applications are open until 7 August, with special calls planned for seniors and people with disabilities.

In Brandsen, Argentina, the municipal government opened registration for a housing demand registry that will allocate 36 newly built homes by lottery. Registration began on 13 July, proceeding alphabetically by surname, to keep the process transparent and to support future housing projects.

In Rionegro, Colombia, 23 families received homes in the Senderos de Cimarronas priority‑housing project. Each family got a municipal subsidy of 10 million pesos plus an additional incentive equivalent to seven minimum wages, enabling the completion of purchases. The project comprises 540 units; 401 have already been delivered, with more slated for future phases.
