Chile and Morocco initiate Free Trade Agreement negotiations
Chile and Morocco have signed the Terms of Reference (ToR) to begin negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The agreement was formalized during a bilateral meeting between Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
As part of the diplomatic engagement, Chile recognized Morocco's full sovereignty over the Western Sahara territory and expressed support for promoting economic and commercial cooperation within the Moroccan Sahara region.
Morocco represents a significant market for Chilean agrifood products. In 2025, Moroccan imports of agrifood goods reached a total value of $440 million, totaling 129,000 tons. Key imported items include shelled almonds, walnuts, and raisins, alongside processed goods such as tomato paste and sauces.
