Chile and Peru coordinate fruit fly control in Arica and Tacna
A delegation of 20 professionals from Peru’s National Agricultural Health Service (SENASA) and Chile’s Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) met in Arica and Tacna to strengthen technical cooperation against the fruit fly pest.
The initiative aims to address challenges in combating the pest, which threatens agricultural production and the commercialization of products in both nations. The meeting was part of a cooperation project between the Chilean Agency for International Development Cooperation (AGCID) and the Peruvian Agency for International Technical Cooperation (APCI), with logistical support from the Regional Government of Arica and Parinacota.
During the two-day event, teams shared operational experiences and knowledge to improve coordination between the two services. Regional agricultural authorities emphasized that collaborative work is essential to protect the agricultural sectors of both territories and work toward eradicating the pest.
