Chile and Peru report rising labor demand and higher salary expectations

ManpowerGroup Chile projects almost 2,000 temporary positions to be filled for the upcoming Día del Niño on August 9 and the September Fiestas Patrias. About 450 roles are expected for the children's holiday, mainly in retail, logistics and sales, with net wages ranging from roughly 380,000 to 1,200,000 Chilean pesos depending on the job and hours. For the Fiestas Patrias, the firm foresees around 1,500 vacancies for cashiers, store operators, shelf‑stockers and promoters, with salaries between 340,000 and 700,000 pesos. Valentina Mery, ManpowerGroup Chile’s recruitment manager, said the retail and logistics sectors “concentrate the greatest need for staff because of the high consumption flows these holidays generate.”

In Peru, Bumeran’s Labor Market Index shows that average salary expectations rose 1.19 % in the first half of 2026, reaching S/ 3,475 in June – the highest level recorded this year. The increase is strongest among specialized positions; for example, system supervisors reported average expectations of S/ 12,000 per month. Diego Tala Tala, commercial director at Bumeran, noted that the trend reflects a “gradual recovery of candidate expectations” as talent becomes more optimistic about professional and economic growth.
