Chile announces 2026 regional cultural awards and CONOSUR painting contest

Regional Minister of Cultures, Arts and Heritage in Chile’s Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic region, Rodrigo Bravo Garrido, presented the 2026 Regional Culture, Art and Heritage Awards, urging creators and organisations to submit applications. The awards cover four categories and each includes a monetary prize of one million Chilean pesos. Bravo highlighted programmes such as Acciona and Cecrea Porvenir and noted upcoming activities linked to the 200‑year anniversary of the Treaty of Tantauco.

The Municipality of Temuco launched the CONOSUR 2026 inter‑regional painting competition, inviting artists from the Biobío, La Araucanía, Los Ríos and Los Lagos regions to submit original oil or acrylic works. The contest, organised by the municipal Directorate of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, offers a total prize fund of eight million pesos, with the first prize worth 2.5 million pesos. Submissions are accepted digitally until 4 October 2026, after which a jury will select works for a final exhibition.
