Chile Approves 2.8 bn‑Peso Renovation for Arica’s Liceo Politécnico

The regional council of Arica and Parinacota unanimously approved a 2.806 billion‑peso allocation from the National Regional Development Fund (FNDR) to restore and upgrade the historic Liceo Politécnico. The project, overseen by the Local Public Education Service Chinchorro (SLEPCH), aims to replace deteriorated facilities and provide safe, functional learning spaces, with completion targeted for the end of 2027. Governor Diego Paco highlighted the initiative as part of a broader effort to close infrastructure gaps in public schools, while school director Juan Antonio Zamora called the decision a “milestone” for students from urban and valley communities. Infrastructure commission chair Lorena Ventura expressed enthusiasm, noting the project will raise standards for teachers and administrators alike.
