Chile-Argentina border passes closed due to severe weather

Multiple border crossings between Chile and Argentina have been closed due to severe weather conditions, including heavy snowfall and high winds in the mountain regions.

The Los Libertadores Pass remains closed as a preventive measure. Authorities from both Chile and Argentina are scheduled to evaluate the situation this Monday to determine if the route can safely reopen. Meteorologists warn that wind gusts could exceed 70 kilometers per hour, and heavy snow may persist through early Monday.

Additionally, the Pehuenche Border Complex has been closed since Sunday, September 20, due to the same meteorological system. This closure includes a traffic cut on Route CH-115 at kilometer 104 in the El Médano sector. Travelers are advised to plan accordingly and monitor official channels for updates on when these transit routes will resume operation.
