Chilean defender Guillermo Maripán signs with Brazil's Inter Porto Alegre
Central defender Guillermo Maripán, a regular for the Chile national team, has agreed to join Brazilian Série A side Inter Porto Alegre. The 32‑year‑old completed his European spell with Torino and, according to football market specialist César Luis Merlo and portal UOL, reached a verbal agreement to sign a contract that runs until the end of 2028, pending formalities.
Earlier speculation linked Maripán with Mexican club Cruz Azul, which had listed him among its defensive targets. However, Cruz Azul confirmed the player will not join them, as the deal with Inter Porto Alegre was already in place. The move marks Maripán’s return to South America after stints in Spain, France, Italy and Italy’s Serie A.
