Chile corporate integrity index shows significant decline

The third edition of the Corporate Governance Integrity Index, released in October 2026, reveals a notable decline in the performance of the Chilean business sector. The study, conducted by the Fundación Generación Empresarial and the Centro Futuros Empresariales at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, reported an average score of 53.1 out of 100, representing a seven-point drop from the previous year.

The assessment included 131 organizations, the largest sample since the index's inception in 2024. Approximately 64% of participating organizations were categorized in the lower tier of the index. A significant factor in the overall decline was the increased participation of private (closed) companies, which comprise 65% of the sample and averaged 48.2 points, compared to 63.9 points for public (open) companies.

Even among organizations that participated in previous years, scores trended downward. Fifty-seven companies that participated in both 2025 and 2026 saw their averages decrease by 1.8 points, while 23 organizations that have participated in all three editions saw their scores drop from 70 points in 2024 to 62 points in 2026. While companies show progress in compliance policies, gaps remain in evaluation, monitoring, and socio-environmental performance.
