Colombia fintech adoption rises as digital transactions dominate

Fintech technology has become an integrated, often invisible part of daily routines in Colombia. During the fourth quarter of 2025, 83% of financial system transactions were conducted through non-presential channels, with 61% of transactional operations occurring via mobile applications.

Key tools driving this shift include digital wallets, payment gateways, QR codes, and authentication systems. A significant development in the Colombian market is the introduction of Bre-B, an immediate payment system from the Banco de la República. Launched in October 2025, Bre-B enables instant transfers between different financial entities using a key or QR code, regardless of the time or day.
