Chile digital payments reach 70% as Wise launches transfer service
Chile is experiencing a significant shift toward digital finance, with approximately 70% of consumer transactions now conducted through electronic means. This growth is driven by debit and credit cards, digital wallets, and transfers, which have become essential tools for businesses ranging from large retailers to small street vendors.
In response to the growing demand for international financial services, the technology company Wise has launched its international money transfer service in Chile. This move follows data from the Central Bank of Chile showing that outgoing remittances totaled US$2.27 billion in 2025, a 5.9% increase from the previous year. Wise's new digital service allows users to send Chilean pesos to over 40 currencies across 160 countries, utilizing a network designed to complete 77% of global transfers in under 20 seconds.
