Oscar González on trial for 2022 Altas Cumbres fatal crash

The oral trial began in the Villa Dolores courts of Córdoba Province, where former provincial legislator Oscar González faces charges of culpable homicide and aggravated injuries. The case stems from the October 29 2022 collision on the Altas Cumbres road that killed teacher Alejandra Bengoa and seriously injured two teenagers, Alexa Miranda and Marina Szulewicz.

Prosecutors argue González drove a BMW X1 recklessly, crossing a double yellow line and using an official vehicle, while the defense contends the victim was at fault, challenges the forensic evidence and has filed a request for nullity of the proceedings.

The trial includes testimony from the surviving victims, with Alexa Miranda describing her paralysis and Marina Szulewicz recounting her long rehabilitation. The proceedings are expected to continue for several weeks amid intense public and media attention.
