Chile electricity subsidy reaches thousands in Valparaíso and Los Ríos

The fifth call for the electricity subsidy in Chile has resulted in significant coverage for households in the Valparaíso and Los Ríos regions. In Valparaíso, more than 202,000 households will receive the benefit, including 24,235 families participating for the first time. In Los Ríos, 58,040 households are beneficiaries, with 6,800 being new recipients.

Authorities have outlined several key deadlines and procedures for beneficiaries. The deadline to request a modification of the associated customer number is September 2. Additionally, the option for voluntary resignation from the subsidy is available from August 12 until December 31, 2026.

Households with electro-dependent individuals do not need to manually update their customer numbers, as this information is updated automatically via the Registry of Electro-dependent Persons. Results can be verified using a ClaveÚnica through official government portals or via ChileAtiende and the Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels (SEC). Payments for the second semester will be distributed in six monthly installments starting in September.
