Chile Expands Bus Travel Options as New Public Transport Launch Delayed

Bus travel is being promoted across Chile as a comfortable, affordable way for families to celebrate Children’s Day on August 9. Recorrido, a leading inter‑city ticket platform, highlighted destinations such as Termas de Chillán, La Serena, Puerto Varas and Valdivia, noting fares as low as $13,500 for a sleeper seat from Santiago to Chillán and encouraging early purchase.

In southern Chile, the rollout of a new public‑transport system in Puerto Natales has been postponed. The nine‑bus Euro VI fleet, equipped with low‑floor access, heating, Wi‑Fi and USB ports, remains in the country but will not begin service until the required administrative procedures are completed. The service, to be operated by Negocios Luzdivina, will initially run three routes with a base fare of $400 and discounts for seniors and students, aiming for full electronic ticketing in the future.
