Chile expands free youth sports programs in La Pintana and Punta Arenas

The Chilean Olympic Committee’s Women and Gender Equity Commission launched a sports‑initiation program for 80 girls at Colegio Almendral in La Pintana. Over ten sessions between June and August, participants will receive training in basketball, gymnastics and volleyball at the Marlene Ahrens Olympic Training Centre. Director Patricia López said the initiative aims to broaden access to sport and identify new talent among women.

The National Institute of Sport’s Crecer en Movimiento programme announced available spots for free table‑tennis and basketball workshops for children aged 7‑11 in Punta Arenas. Sessions run on weekdays at the Centro Elige Vivir Sano and the Polideportivo 18 de Septiembre, focusing on motor‑skill development and active‑lifestyle habits. Regional sports seremi Jacques Roux highlighted the value of these activities for physical education and community interaction.
