Chile expands local public service facilities in Araucanía and Los Lagos regions

The Chilean Institute of Social Security (IPS) and the municipality of Melipeuco inaugurated a Virtual Attention Center, allowing residents to complete roughly 20 state procedures—including pension and family benefits—via video call, reducing the need to travel to larger towns.

In Dalcahue on Chiloé Island, a new Civic Center is under construction after a groundbreaking ceremony. The $6.9 billion project, financed by the Subsecretariat for Regional Development and the Los Lagos Regional Government, will house the municipal office, the Municipal Corporation and the Civil Registry in a 2,196‑square‑meter wooden building, serving about 10,700 inhabitants.

Meanwhile, the “Saca Tu Permiso Rural” campaign generated over 73 million Chilean pesos in direct benefits for the five communes of Palena Province, part of a broader six‑year effort that has raised more than 880 million pesos in vehicle‑permit fees and delivered over 306 million pesos to rural municipalities across Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes.
