Chile expands regional vocational training linking schools, companies and women bus drivers

The Pro O’Higgins corporation launched the EN RUTA TP 2026 programme in the O’Higgins region, organizing 50 technical‑transfer sessions with 40 technical‑professional high schools and 30 local firms. Participants highlighted the value of early industry exposure, with Braulio Guzmán noting a "real interest from both companies and schools to collaborate" and students describing the sessions as "very good experience" that prepares them for the labour market.

In the Coquimbo region, the Ministry of the Environment’s CLETS project certified 30 women from Limarí to operate electric buses. Jovanka Rendic emphasized that "the transport of the future has a woman's name," and officials praised the initiative as a concrete step toward gender inclusion in the emerging clean‑transport sector.

Both programmes aim to bridge education and emerging sustainable‑transport industries, improving employability and supporting Chile’s transition to low‑emission mobility.
