Chile expands support for middle‑class entrepreneurs and open‑gym sports program
The Hub Metropolitano, inaugurated on 17 December 2025 near Santiago’s Metro Santa Lucía, is a 1,200‑square‑metre centre run by Fundación Chile. Its executive director Jacinta Fanjul says the hub targets the “clase media emprendedora”, a segment that sustains about 60 % of the country’s economy but lacks dedicated support. The centre averages roughly 1,000 visits per month and plans to replicate its model in other regions, offering services such as startup incubation, maker spaces and connections to larger firms.
Sports Minister Natalia Duco visited Puerto Montt to promote the “Gimnasios Puertas Abiertas” programme, which will open ten school sports facilities to the public between August and December. Duco said she is “very happy” with the initiative, noting that it will benefit more than 15,000 children and over 22 organisations. The mayor of Puerto Montt echoed the success, and the ministry is evaluating a national rollout of the programme.
Both initiatives reflect the Chilean government’s effort to bolster entrepreneurship and community sports access across the country.
