Chile extends claim deadline for subsidized farm insurance
The Ministry of Agriculture announced an extraordinary extension of the filing period for agricultural insurance claims to 45 days. The measure applies to farmers who hold state‑subsidized policies through Agroseguros or the INDAP program and who were affected by the recent severe weather front.
Insurers Sura Seguros and HDI Seguros will honor the extended deadline, and claims must be submitted directly to the insurance companies, their brokers, or the regional INDAP agencies. Minister of Agriculture Jaime Campos highlighted that farm insurance is a modern tool that protects production, work and investment from risks such as heavy rain, frost and hail. Agroseguros director Cristián Buccione noted that the subsidy scheme currently covers roughly 15,000 farmers across the country.
