Chile feminist leaders convene to strengthen human rights defense
A regional feminist gathering titled “Vida Digna y Justicia Social: Reflexiones sobre caminos recorridos y estrategias posibles para su defensa” was organized by Observadoras Ley de Aborto (OLA) Chile. It brought together Chilean parliamentarians, activists, former Uruguayan senator Lilian Abracinskas and Paula Salvo, director of Corporación Humanas, to discuss challenges in defending women’s rights, share experiences across the region and plan joint advocacy strategies.
Separately, Fundación TODAS hosted a weekend meeting of women leaders from various Chilean municipalities, including current and former councilors and mayors. Participants took part in workshops on leadership, public management and the need to overcome political polarization, emphasizing dialogue and consensus as essential for improving public policies and gender equality.
